Former M.I.A. board member, Stacy Price, will be featured in a two night Denver event “This is My Brave.” The mission of this nonprofit is to end the stigma surrounding mental illness by sharing personal stories of individuals overcoming mental illness through poetry, essay, and original music, live on stage, through stories submitted and published on this site.
This special Denver showing will occur on October 14th and 15th at the Crossroads Theater in Denver. This is My Brave Denver will feature fifteen individuals whose first act of bravery was auditioning for a role in this very unique experience. The cast will share their true stories about living with, or loving someone with a mental illness though comedy, poetry, personal essays and original music. This is My Brave Denver follows acclaimed productions in Boston, Harrisburg, Iowa City, Valparaiso, Greenville SC, Los Angeles, NYC and Washington, DC.
Featured performers include:
• Debbie Scheer, co-creator and co-host of a new show, Broadsided: An Estrogen Fueled Comedy Show
• Amanda Gold, musician and artist, who works Colorado Coalition for the Homeless
• Sam Hozdulick – Denver-based musician, debut album “Awake” (2016)
• Slam poet Angela Nicole, who works with traumatized youth at Art from Ashes in Denver, and many more! (Including our beloved Stacy Price!)
